ButtonHub — terms of use

These terms cover ButtonHub, an app by Tallnuff Tech Ltd, a company registered in England. Buying a licence, activating a key, or using the app means you agree to them. If you are buying for a company or a production, you confirm you can agree on its behalf.

What ButtonHub is

ButtonHub puts controls for Bitfocus Companion and QLab 5 on crew phones, and can run a paired main-and-backup rig. It sends the commands you configure to the software and equipment you point it at. It is a remote control, not the show itself.

Your licence

• The app licence is a one-off purchase. One purchase covers two Macs — a main and a backup — each claiming one activation of the same key. It does not expire.
• Remote access is a separate subscription, per machine. It provides the relay that carries crew pages over the internet. Cancelling it stops remote access and nothing else.
• Keys are issued and payments handled by Polar (polar.sh), our merchant of record. Their checkout terms apply to the purchase itself.
• A licence is for your use and your productions. Do not resell keys, share them beyond your own machines, or work around the licence checks.
• An unlicensed copy runs as a listener (receiving messages and flashes) and that is free.
• We can end a licence that is obtained fraudulently, charged back, or used in breach of these terms. If a subscription lapses or is refunded, the access it paid for ends.

Your responsibilities

ButtonHub presses what you told it to press. What the buttons actually fire — the cues, the equipment, the consequences — is your rig and your responsibility.

• Test before the show. Check every button on the real rig before an audience is in the room. Beta versions especially.
• Show control, not safety control. Never give ButtonHub, or any phone running its pages, the only control of anything that could injure someone: pyrotechnics, automation, flying, rigging, or anything similar. Use it alongside — never instead of — proper safety systems and a person who can see the stage.
• Guard your codes. QR codes, PINs and published links are keys to your rig. Hand them only to people you trust with the kit, and shut links out when phones leave the building.
• You are responsible for complying with the rules of the venues and networks you use it on.

No warranty

ButtonHub is provided as is and as available, with no warranty of any kind — express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Live shows depend on networks, machines and software we do not control, and we do not promise the app is uninterrupted or error-free. Nothing in this section limits rights the law says cannot be limited.

Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows:

• Tallnuff Tech Ltd is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from using, or being unable to use, ButtonHub — including a stopped or spoiled show or event, lost fees, bookings or profits, damaged equipment, or lost data.
• Our total liability for all claims together is limited to the amount you paid us for the licence in the twelve months before the claim.
• Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
• If you buy as a consumer, nothing here affects your statutory rights.

Refunds

Purchases are made through Polar, and refunds are handled there. If you are a consumer in the UK or EU, you have the legal cancellation rights for digital content; ask us and we will point you at the process. A refunded purchase ends the licence it paid for.

Privacy

What the app sends and stores is described plainly in our privacy notes. The short version: on your own network, nothing leaves your machines; remote access, licence activation, update checks and bug reports each send the minimum they need, and there are no analytics and no accounts.

Other people's names

ButtonHub is an independent product. It is not made by, endorsed by, or connected with Bitfocus AS (Companion), Figure 53, LLC (QLab), or Corsair Memory, Inc. (Elgato, Stream Deck). Those names and trademarks belong to their owners and are used only to say what ButtonHub works with.

Changes

We may update these terms; the date at the top says when. A change that matters will be called out in the app's release notes. Using the app after a change means you accept it.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction — though if you are a consumer elsewhere in the UK or EU you keep any right to use your local courts.
